The Saco Parks and Recreation Department has been using the social media network tool Facebook for over a year now with great viewership. A hyperlink to the Facebook account is provided below. Over the last five month period, the Department's Facebook page "Saco Parks and Recreation Department" has grown to 424 members with 52,677 individual views or "hits".

This site has allowed for quick feedback on programs, times, changes and cancellations among other things. The major advantage over email is that an update or new program posting is potentially viewed by over 400 individuals each day. With posts from the Department reaching that many participants, communications on departmental happenings has improved tremendously.

While Facebook is only one component of Departmental communications with its patrons, it has proven its worth on multiple occasions. We also have a new online registration system, which can reach many constituents simultaneously as well as specific program participants with its email blast feature in a very timely manner.
