Board of Education Charter Changes
In November 2, 2004 the citizens of Saco voted and approved three Board of Education Charter Changes.

The first was: The Mayor, commencing on the first Monday of December 2005, shall also be ex officio chair of the Board of Education and shall: 1) Have no veto power; 2) Not make a motion; and 3) Only vote to break a tie.

The second was: The Board of Education shall consist of seven (7) members elected by the voters of their respective wards to serve terms of three (3) years.

The third was: The nomination of a candidate for the Board of Education shall become qualified by filing a nomination petition signed by at least thirty-five (35) qualified voters in his/her respective ward, filed in accordance with the provision of sections (b) or (c) above. However, there shall be no more than one (1) member from any one (1) ward.
