Household hazardous waste
Coming up at the end of October is another Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Day. Residents from Saco, Scarborough, Biddeford and Old Orchard Beach are all welcome at this event. On October 22nd, from 8 a.m. to Noon, please bring your household hazardous waste items to the Saco Public Works facility located at 351 North St. Items being accepted are: fluorescent light bulbs, moth balls, drain cleaners, furniture polish, metal polish, photo chemicals, spot remover, floor cleaner, uphostery cleaner, button batteries, rechargable batteries, old chemistry sets, rust inhibitors, wood preserve, wood strippers, wood stain, paint thinner, solvents, oil-based paints, degreasers, sealants, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, chlordane, insect sprays, rodent killers, no-pest strips, pool chemicals, antifreeze, brake fluid, engine degreaser, gasoline and kerosene.

Please do not bring the following items: pathological waste, radioactive waste, latex paint, tires, explosives, smoke detectors, propane cylinders, computers, commercial waste, or unknown materials. If you have any questions about what you may or may not bring, please call the Recycling Office at 282-1552 or email swojcoski@sacomaine.org. Be sure to bring proof of residency!
