Updates on street construction projects

Temple St. near Elm St.
Temple, Green, Pleasant, and Pearl Street construction project update:
The construction project in the Temple and Green Street area is nearing completion. A new storm drain system is in place on Temple and Pleasant Streets. Upgrades to the storm drain system have been made to Green and Pearl Streets. A separate storm water service connection has been brought to the property line for each building in the areas where the new storm drain has been installed. Residents are required by ordinance to separate their storm water from the sewer system in these areas. A new sewer line was also installed on Temple Street. As part of the project, the Biddeford Saco water company replaced their water main on Temple, Pleasant, and Pearl Streets.

All roads in the project have been box cut and rebuilt. The final pavement on Green St. has been completed. Final pavement for Temple, Pleasant, and Pearl St will scheduled for the end of May.

The traffic patterns have changed as part of this project. Green St is now a one way street with the direction of travel going from Spring Street to Elm Street. Pleasant Street from Elm Street to Spring St will one way with traffic running from Elm Street to Spring Street.

Pleasant Street between Main Street and Elm Street is part of the project as a bid alternate. A new sewer line is in place on this section of Pleasant St. The road has been box cut, rebuilt and brought to base pavement. Final pavement is scheduled for the end of May.

Fairfield St construction update:

Fairfield St. looking at Main St.
The construction on Fairfield Street is nearing completion. A new sewer line and storm drain line have been installed. The Biddeford Saco water company has also upgraded their water main on Fairfield Street. The street and sidewalks have been box cut and rebuilt. New granite curbing has been installed. Final pavement is scheduled for the last week in May or the first week in June.

Fairfield Street has been realigned with King Street at the intersection of Main Street to help facilitate traffic movements. New mast arms, traffic signal heads, and controllers are being installed in conjunction with the State DOT. This work is scheduled to be complete near the end of May.
